Gift giving

Posted on December 21st, 2011 by keithrw

So, we do secret santa at work for anyone who wants to participate. The last year (or maybe two) I opted out. But I decided to join the fun this year. My first opportunity to sneak a couple gifts on my person’s desk turned out to be a complete fail. I got caught. Let’s just say if I were applying for a job in the Secret Service, instead of a rejection letter, I would have probably been deported.

But so many times we can find opportunities in mishaps, right? I used this one to throw down some HTML/CSS/JS. Nothing too crazy, but just keeping the mind sharp is necessary with the continuing advances in web tech.

Here’s the page I set up. Then I threw a floating piece of paper in her cube that had the link on it and said “View this in Firefox!”. There’s a cheesy right-click catch, but you can get around that with Firebug/F12 if you really want to dig into the code. Like I said, nothing terribly fancy. But it was fun to punch that out in a night!

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!
